When I try use the SIM console to deploy the VMM Agent to a VM guest OS I get the error:
"No, Not allowed by tool definition"
I've deploted OpenSSH to the guest from the console ok, and used this command to generate keys for both my domain admin account (which IM is running under) and the local admin account on the target machine:
mxagentconfig -a -n
I can connect to the target using SSH via Putty OK. I can resolve the name of the Target from the SIM console ok (using DNS), and can actually connect to the Target using Putty on the Console...
So what am I missing? This is a clean install, and the second attempt I've had... The previous attempt had exactly the same problem.
Thanks
Rod

Re: VMM Agent Deployment problem
Conversely I managed to install the VMM Agent to the ESX server host from the CMS ok, and an icon does appear in the VM column of the CMS - albeit an 'i'.

SolutionThe Host needs to be correctly identified before you can deploy the Agent. There are some temporary keys available, but they're only valid for 60 days.
The order of the steps you need to do is important, so check the VMM Installation Guide.
To license a VM Host Highlight the Host and then go to the Deploy -> License Manager -> Deploy.

Re: VMM Agent Deployment problem
However - this brings me to my second problem - I'm not able to license either Guest or Host by using Deploy > License Manager > Deploy keys, because there do not appear to be any keys installed (Manage Keys says "There are no keys to display").
I've not purchased any keys yet - so supposedly using the demo keys. How do I activate them?
cheers

Re: VMM Agent Deployment problem
Which version of VMM?
The Manage Keys should list the VMM Demo Licenses.
I'm not sure if it is VMM or HPSIM that populates the VMM DEMO Licenses, but a full install of HPSIM 5.0 should include VMM.

Re: VMM Agent Deployment problem
I'm checking with my local HP pre-sales support.
