AF468A HP R/T3000 G2 UPS Cannot understand shutdown times in redundant configuration
Hi,
We have two ups model: AF468A HP R/T3000 G2 with Network Modules installed and implemented redundant Configuration B, like on page 9 in HP UPS Network Module User Guide.
In UPS is last firmware revision:
UPS Firmware Revision : 01.02.0004 Communication Board Firmware Revision : 01.04.0020
We have two HP Power Protector(1.02 build 026) clients installed:
1. One installed on dedicated DC.
2. Second installed on Vmware Virtual Mashine for gracefully shutdown all VM's and HOSTS.
So we set this Power Protector Clients and Each HP UPS Network Module has this shutdown parameters:
DC client
Shutdown initiated after (sec): 900
OS shutdown time (sec):120
Shutdown type: Shutdown
VM client
Shutdown initiated after (sec): 900
OS shutdown time (sec): 600
Shutdown type: Script
Shutdown script: perl /usr/local/HP/PowerProtector/bin/virt_tools/shutdownESXimultiply.pl
Each HP UPS Network Module has this shutdown parameters:
Entire UPS
Shutdown initiated
if Remaining Backup
time under: 60 sec
Load Segment 1
Shutdown initiated after: 3000sec
if Battery Capacity under: 1%
OS Shutdown Time: 600 sec
Switch On after the restart: 0 sec
Load Segment 2
Shutdown initiated after: 3000sec
if Battery Capacity under: 1%
OS Shutdown Time: 600 sec
Switch On after the restart: 0 sec
So after utility power lost, the UPSes should behaves as follows:
1. DC clients - The UPS Power Protector waits until 900 seconds past to start shutdown OS. The server is powered down in 120 sec.
2. VM client - The UPS Power Protector waits until 900 seconds past to star script for shutdown all VM's after that shutdown all hosts. The VM's and HOSTS is powered down in 600 sec.
3. UPS network module - The UPS Network module waits until 3000 seconds past + waits 600 sec for OS shutdown and shutdown Load segments 1 and 2. Or shutdown Load segments if Battery Capacity under: 1% or shutdown UPS if Remaining Backup time under: 60 sec.
But after turn off electricity and tested we noticed that they are not working as it should:
1. After 720 sec started gracefully shutdown DC and VM's with hosts. Why after 720 sec and not after 900 sec???
2. After 600 sec UPS shutdown all Load segments 1 and 2. Why it shutdown?
720 seconds it was before this last configuration on Each HP UPS Network Module(Shutdown initiated after parameter).
After that I changed it to 3000 sec. I can't understand this behavior? Maybe I shoud first set parameters in UPS Network Module and after that on clients or vice versa?
Any suggestions?
