Use older non-intelligent expansion bars with intelligent PDU core?

We recently purchase some of the intelligent PDU's, model AF531a.  The core unit has six of the C19 type plugs for the expansion bars.  It comes width four of the "standard" expansion bars.    These have the regular C13 plugs on the bar, and a blue C19 connection where it plugs into the core.  The individual outlets are not controlled, just the expansion bar as a unit. 

In the past we've used the non-intelligent version of the PDU's, model 252663-D72.  

Is it possible to use the older style expansion bars with the intelligent PDU core?  The use the same C19 type plug, but are black and don't have the data pins on the plug.  I realize I wouldn't get the ID LED, but would I stil be able to use the two additional C19's on the core unit (as long as I don't exceed the total for the PDU)?
