Extension of file system from clustered VG in service guard in Suse Linux Platform
Hi All
We have an activity where we need to extend a filesystem of a VG which is under the service guard control on SUSE Linux platform. This required to be an offline activity because the Suse Version is an old one. We are not getting the downtime approval for the entire package where other VGs also reside. So we are just planning to extend that particular file system by following the below plan of action.
1. Stop application related to that file system.
2. Unmount the file system manually
3. Extend the file system.
4. Mount the file system manually.
Please suggest do we need to take any further action for the same as it is under service guard or the above plan of action may cause any unplanned outage to the entire package.
Your valuable suggestion will be highly appreciated.
regards
Arup

Re: Extension of file system from clustered VG in service guard in Suse Linux Platform
Does your package configuration include anything that would monitor the availability of the filesystem you're planning to extend?
If such monitoring exists and you cannot disable it, it might trigger an automatic failover when you unmount the filesystem for extending.
Without being able to look into your Serviceguard package configuration, it will probably be impossible to say anything more detailed than this.

Re: Extension of file system from clustered VG in service guard in Suse Linux Platform
Hi MK
Thanks for your response. I have checked the package config file & don't find anything which will monitor the file system, except during package stop/start
If you pinpoint anything which I should look for will be a great help.
