License migration from HPUX to LINUX

Hi everyone,
I would migrate from an hpux 11iv1 MC/Serviceguard clustered DataProtector 5.5 to a Red Hat 5 MC/Serviceguard DataProtector 6.1.
Can I migrate both the DataProtector and the MC/Serviceguard licences from the HPUX to the Linux cluster?

Regards...

Re: License migration from HPUX to LINUX

Shalom,

HP sells these licenses on a per CPU basis for a specific platform.

Straight migration would not work.

You would have to negotiate a credit, which HP might due in regards to Data Protector.

Note that Service Guard has been discontinued on Linux with the last version being 11.19

Re: License migration from HPUX to LINUX

There is no license migration process.

License cost depends on platform. Steven is correct that for Integrity servers SGLX is licensed per CPU core. For ProLiant (x86) servers it is licensed per server.

You should be aware that SGLX is being discontinued. Some details are available at http://www.hp.com/go/sglxnews

But, can I move licenses from a 4cpu PARISC HPUX 11iv1 MC\Serviceguard A.11.16 to a LINUX REDHAT5AS 4cpu MC\Serviceguard A.11.19 cluster?
And where can I download the software to install MC\Serviceguard?

Re: License migration from HPUX to LINUX

On the data protector question, you need to contact you DP rep or the DP forum (http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/categoryhome.do?categoryId=251 )

An evaluation version of SGLX 11.19 can be downloaded from http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=SGLX1119-DEMO

This has an evaluation period limit of 90 days from install. By then end of that period you will need to purchase the product and have a license key installed on that system to have the software continue to operate.
