HPE|Microsoft Azure Stack solution delivers the agility of public cloud right to your own datacenter

For the last month, I’ve been writing about Microsoft’s Azure Stack and the cloud capabilities it delivers to customers. Today at the Microsoft Ignite event, HPE announced the new HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution. This new offering is an integrated solution that bigstock-Cloud--108730481.jpgwill enable organizations to increase agility and flexibility by delivering Azure compatible infrastructure as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) right from within their own datacenters.

Available in mid-2017, the new HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution allows customers to transform their on-premises datacenter resources into agile and flexible cloud services. As a solution co-engineered by two industry powerhouses, the HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution delivers a hybrid cloud platform that is compatible with Azure public cloud services.

Built on the world’s best-selling server, the HPE ProLiant DL 380, the HPE | Azure Stack solution will be a complete compute, storage, networking and software system. Using a consistent, uniform portal, IT operators and developers can seamlessly access both Azure public and private cloud services to rapidly provision cloud resources, build applications, and easily move them between Azure public cloud and Azure Stack running on-premises.

The HPE difference

It’s no secret that Microsoft’s new Azure Stack technology is being offered on multiple vendor platforms. But what sets the HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution apart from the others is that HPE offers exclusive benefits to customers through capabilities that ensure operational simplicity and security through enterprise software applications, consulting, support and financing options.

As an example, new enhancements to HPE Flexible Capacity enables customers to instantly scale their infrastructure up or down without the usual lengthy procurement process. This allows for immediate flexibility to act and react to frequent changes in infrastructure demands. HPE also makes billing simple with unified billing.   HPE is the only vendor to offer pay as you go pricing based on actual metered usage, rather than a set monthly rate. And it couldn’t be easier to manage usage with one contract, one invoice, and one portal.

In addition, the HPE Azure hybrid cloud is the only Azure hybrid cloud solution that offers an analytics-driven, autonomous operation management solution through a single pane of glass for Azure, Azure Stack and traditional IT. The HPE Operations Bridge provides performance and availability monitoring along with predictive advisory and proactive, automated action capabilities. It also dramatically reduces operating cost and complexity with features such as causal and predictive analytics, automated remediation and integration with Microsoft System Center.

And as security is a huge concern for customers adopting cloud technology, HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution is the only Azure Stack solution that provides unified security information and event management for the complete IT environment—whether it be public, hybrid or traditional IT—through a single security tool suite. HPE SecureData for Cloud is a compatible offering that provides data protection and encryption.

Additionally, HPE hybrid cloud solutions provide multi-cloud support, allowing enterprises and service providers to manage cloud environments that include Azure, Amazon Web Services, VMware and OpenStack®.

Getting started

Even though the HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution is targeted for availability in mid-2017,  HPE Consulting for Azure Hybrid Cloud services are available now to assist organizations in planning their Azure Stack deployments. HPE Consulting for Azure Hybrid Cloud provides new advisory and implementation consulting services for Azure hybrid cloud, including security, workload migration, identity, networking and backup and recovery. In addition, global, enterprise-class support for Azure public cloud and hybrid cloud services expand organizations’ IT capacity to innovate by out-tasking monitoring and routine management responsibilities with HPE Datacenter Care-Operational Support Services.

As businesses today continue to be under intense market pressure, the need for IT solutions that can be delivered quickly, simply and cost-effectively--all while addressing security and compliance requirements, is imperative. In order to thrive in this ever-changing, fast paced environment, many enterprises and service providers are turning to a hybrid cloud solution that includes both a private and public cloud. Using HPE | Microsoft Azure Stack solution, enterprises and service providers can now realize the best of both worlds--the speed, agility and simplicity of a public cloud combined with the cost-effective and secure environment of a powerful, on-premises private cloud.
