DL380 G5 and Installing Service Release Version 6.9

When I tried to install the Service Release Version 6.9 I found that it would not extract on the server (something about license corrupt). But I had no problem extracting it on my own PC (I ran into the same thing with 6.6). Copying it to the server and then running the Wizard I would get as far as the second step of telling it where the service pack was and clicking "Next" - Then the program would unload with no error message.

The only thing that I can see as a possible reason is that reading the readme is that it indicates supported OS show either "R2" or "upgraded to R2". Mine is not, and the previous release 6.6 was the last one installed. How did they get one to "upgrade to R2"? (I do know how to get it done on regular Windows Server STD)

So what should I do?

Opps! I was incorrect. I am at "R2" with this issue.

The SR69 downloaded from HP normal place.
I have downloaded it twice with the same results. Just dumps me out as soon as I point to it.

I will rephrase that I downloaded it from HP's site for Windows Storage Servers. After I unpack it on my own computer I copy it to the server and ttry to run it. Either running setup, or running the wizard, On the screen right after agreeing with the agreement, when I point it to wher the SP is it just unloads with no error message.

Can you please share the exact wording of the error message ? Did you attempt to run the 6.9 service release executable from a command window ? The install instructions indicate that you must execute the service release from a command window. There is an apparent bug in that Windows wont let you run a signed file that is over 1GB by double clicking on it. You can execute it successfully from a command prompt, however.

Sorry scratch that last part. I was thinking of a different release. NEvertheless there is a bug in the OS so you might try running it from the command window and getting the wording of the error would be useful.

Same Executable double clicked on an XP workstation unpacks just fine.

so which file did you download or order ?
