how to publish shared folder of X9300 in active directory

hi,

one of my customer having x9300 nas storage gateway. They have shared some folders and the users access the shared folder by using \\computer name\shared name.

Now the customer wants to publish the shared folder in active directory, windows 2008 R2. Please confirm whether this is possible.

Re: how to publish shared folder of X9300 in active directory

But, what does it mean to "publish a folder in active directory"?

a) Do they mean that they want to handle the access to it via AD? Like give an AD group access to the folder and then add AD users to the group?

b)Or something else?

For a) - yes it is possible. Set up CIFS share and then add the AD authentication servers.

Re: how to publish shared folder of X9300 in active directory

Hi,

Customer wants to access the shared folder by browsing the domain name.

If the AD and File Servers are Windows based it is possible.

Since X9300 is Linux based, we would like to know procedure to activate the same.

Question: I am not quite clear on what it means to browse by the domain name or active directory. Does it mean that from Windows explorer you can type "\\Domainname" and browse from there?

Maybe better question is. What command line syntax or GUI sequence is the customer trying that is not working?
