HP NAS 2000s external

Upon powering up the Nas unit, the 5i+ controller initialized fine however it tries to initialize the 6400 controller and just sits there displaying 'Initializing ...'. I have it cabled to the external drive bay and the bay is powered up and the heartbeat light is beating. Any thoughts on how to resolve this would be appreciated. Thanks
