HP StorageWorks NAS 1200 Fails To Wake on Lan

we seem to have a problem with our HP StorageWorks NAS 1200 failing to Wake on LAN , we have tried just about everything from updating device drivers to a reimage of the OS still fails though, it seems that the server is not in a 'S5 state' we noticed that when you power down the server there is no power to the NIC's the green light on the card goes off when its down, which we think is where the problem lies as the server is not seeing the magic packet, we have tried both cards which are onboard and also updated the drivers ect, but to no avail, can any IT wizzard help in maybe giving us any information in enablng S5 state on the server? or is this not the case, we have checked the BIOS and its a very basic BIOS there are no setting in there to enable S5 or WOL. please help shame to bin this server because of this problem, we are hoping maybe its a DOS command to enable it, we have checked the properties on the NIC nothing there also..
so as a recap we have

-checked the BIOS
-updated device driver to latest
-checked properties on the card
we are sure the issue is to do with S5 state bein disabled.. please help as we are run out of ideas..
