Temp files being created on storage server

Hi all,

Hope some one can help me. We have a 380 Storage server. Problem we are having is that everytime a person saves a file a temp file is created with a random alha-numerical name that holds the file before the changes that were made to it. The original file saves the changes its just these temp files that are confusing me. I have no idea why they are there or how to stop them being created. Might be worth mentioning that until any user is upgraded to offce xp sp3 they cant save files at all from within office to the server.

If anyone has any ideas\clues on the temp files that would be great
