Re: autoloader 1/8, Data Protector Express 4.0 sp1

The Tuesday jobs are the same options, the schedule is biweekly on Tuesdays with 1 set rotation. There is obviously only 1 barcode in the filter for each of the Tuesday jobs.

here is the schedule...

Re: autoloader 1/8, Data Protector Express 4.0 sp1

It looks to me that what is happening is the compression is not working. It will not see the LTO3 tapes as 800GB. I have software compression as none and am using hardware compression.

Any ideas why the compression will not work? the total size of the job is 489GB and we are using 400/800 tapes. Surely it should work.

Compression does work however most of your data is not compressible you will need to assigned 2 tapes for the full backup. I'll repply later with some screenshots

okay, that's exactly what is going on. I will see if I can clean up the backup to make it smaller. Thanks for the reply!

Re: autoloader 1/8, Data Protector Express 4.0 sp1

I was able to get one days backup and since then I get the same error every day!

Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media

There are 7 formatted tapes in the autoloader. Why will it not use these?

First you need to look on where you backup look for media.

Then locate that folder under Jobs and media, locate also you formated medias.

Finnaly move your already formated medias to the Rotation folder. You will also need to take the barcode filter out from this job and asigned medias by moving them from the Format Job to the Rotation Folder. Asigned 2 Tapes for the full backup since it is more than 400GB.

Problem hapened because there was no media in rotation folders. Eventhough you have 7 tapes there since they are already formated they are only good for the format job you will need to move these medias to the specific rotation folders.
