Re: cannot find DAT72gig tape installation instructions.

BTW, I never needed a reboot so far after a swap.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: cannot find DAT72gig tape installation instructions.

This metal box is an interface between the tape drive and hole it goes into.

I examined the metal box holding the tape drive. I discovered that there are a set of screws so you can open the box without actually hurting anything. It was almost like an access panel. So I opened it up.

Since I had it open, I checked out the dip switches..... hey! There are no dip switches.

ok.....I would check out the jumper settings ......HEY! It's just painted there! No wait. It's a decal. The actual jumpers are wired into the metal box. Their connections are made from the 5300 factory rack.

So. I really don't have any jumpers or dip switches to mess around with. Based on the assurances I had from here, I swapped the tape drive.

I had to run "insf -e". But after that, it worked fine.
In fact, it's running great.

thanks again. Steve

Re: cannot find DAT72gig tape installation instructions.

The SCSI jumpers are wired to the chassis and can be set from there. This is the only setting.

As said before, pull the old drive, plug the new and you are done.

Hope this helps!
