Configuring Ultrium 960 Drives in MSL6000 Tape Library

We have added a second 960 drive to an MSL6000 (30 slot) tape library and use HP Data Protector.

Do we have to add this drive (2) into the drive device specification (HP Data Protector) associated with the library or will it operate without it ?
