Connecting MLS 2024 to BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure

Hi,

We are going to buy MSL 2024 backup solution. Is it possible to connect it to BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure through SAS connection? If yes how? What additional equipment we have to buy? Is it expensive?

Thanks

You can do this, but I think you will need to buy a SAS interconnect/switch and  a SAS mezannine controller. Maybe you can buy a MSL2042 with iSCSI connection to avoid extra costs?

Yes this is fully tested and qualified for both single and multi-initiator.

You need the HP 6GB SAS Switch for Blade Servers:

You also need SAS controllers for the blades that you wish to attach.  In most cases that is the P712m.

One note, I recently noticed that the Quickspecs have an incorrect statement that should have been removed some time ago and say that you should only use two tape drives and small transfer sizes.  That is not correct.  We've tested up to 8 tape drives and all transfer sizes supported by the controllers.

There is no iSCSI option for the MSL 2024.  If you get an MSL 2024 with FC drives you can connect to a blade server using FCoE as long as you have a 2408 switch behind the blade server to get to an FC connection.
