Connectivity problems with Tape Drives after a break in the Logical path

Currently Im facing a problem where I need to reboot My Windows Servers to initiate a Scsi bus rescan to be able to re-establish connectivity to my Tape Library .

To my knowledge this shouldn’t  be needed as Logical Units should Pull thru once a Flogi has been initiated,Zoning/Masking has all been configured correctly.

I’m out of Ideas as I have tried numerous things

I can see the HBA’s logging in successfully and Displaying the Correct Number Of Discovered ports the Strange thing is it doesn’t list the Logical Units .Only way how I can get the Logical Units listed is to reboot the system so that a SCSI Bus Rescan can occur.

I, experiencing this on Both IBM/HP tape libraries with Different HBA’s and Different Firmware/Drivers and have ensured My Systems are Up to date with the recommended latest firmware and Drivers and don’t believe this has something to do with it

Re: Connectivity problems with Tape Drives after a break in the Logical path

right click on your computer icon and choose manage.

Then in the left column is device manager click on it.

The click on anything in the right colmum and choose rescan.

It should help you find the drives without a power cycle.
