COPYING FILES TO A USB TAPE DRIVE

HOW CAN I COPY FILES FROM A DESKTOP TO A HP StorageWorks DAT 40 USB Tape Drive?

You can't just "copy" files to a tape. You need to use backup software such as Windows Backup, Veritas/Symantec or similar (on a windows device).

What O/S are you running?

i`m using windows xp.
but when i`m using windows backup tool, it doesn`t see the backup drive....it only see my harddisk partations.

is there a free backup tool that i can download to copy the files to the backup tape

There will be one around. If not totally free then shareware. I'd check the common free software sites such as sourceforge.net.

the windows backup can only backup the files i choose but it doesn`t copy files in to the tape drive.
i`m already have a ,bak files that i justwant to copy them to the backup tapes.!

You can't just "copy" them to a tape, you have to "back them up" to a tape.

What i suggest you do is run a backup job to the tape and include these files.

i wouldn't think you'd need to back these files up each day.
