Could not discover drives in Storage Router in MSL5060
Guys,
I've got an MSL5060 issue, when I used web browser to open connection to the Storage Router, the result I got from Discovery menu were not right.(check attached doc), and when I did a discover on Bus 0, CHGR's status turned down, and event logs were shown in attached doc. NO device could be discovered from Bus 1 though there should be another drive.
My questions are:
1, what would cause this situation?
2, Does the Storage Router need to be correctly configured to discover all the devices attached to it? How?
regards
Stephen

Re: Could not discover drives in Storage Router in MSL5060
But on the second both are "down".
What says the library web page about the drive? Is it still visible there. Does the library itself still work?
The firmware of your NSR is almost 10 years old!!!
>> Firmware Level 5.4.25
should be version 5.9.63 nowadays.
Update the firmware first!
Do you know how to do this?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Torstenя╝М
1, From the touch screen, the two drives were all ok, and I could finish accessing test of both drives.
2,I really don't know how to upgrade the firmware.

Re: Could not discover drives in Storage Router in MSL5060
> ftp 172.22.2.27
> logon with root/password
ftp> bin
ftp> get mynsrconfig.cfg
(you see this file as *.cfg, so you need to give the file a name while downloading, e.g. mynsrconfig.cfg)
Get the firmware, read all the notes ;-))
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=315728&swItem=co-82826-1&prodNameId=315730&swEnvOID=54&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0
ftp again to the NSR, after log on do
ftp> bin
ftp> put 5.9.63_HP_fw_Winston_mips_x.dlx
after a minute the NSR reboots with new firmware.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Could not discover drives in Storage Router in MSL5060
Other firmware depends on the drive model, library is 5.20 since many years - hope you have this running.
Finally check the cabling.
Should be
NSR -> LibCtrl -> drive -> terminator
for a single drive configuration.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Could not discover drives in Storage Router in MSL5060
Torsten,
Unfortunately, upgrading firmware, including NSR and library, did not fix the problem.
What I mostly concern is that would NSR recognize drives and CHGR without correctly configured, my opinion is that it would if all harewares where OK.
regards
Stephen
