D2D4312-4324 ADD TARGET FAILS WITH TIMEOUT
Hi,
We have got HPD2D4312 at HO and D2D4324 at DR side. When we try to add the 4324 as a target device, the operation fails and saying the target is offline. In the events its saying " Replication Protocol timout whilst sending or receiving a message".
1. WAN link is 1 MB and all the ports enabled,
2. Try to add the device to self it worked.
3.other d2d4312 at HO added to the 4312 at HO and worked.
4.The same WAN link is used for some other applications and no problem for them.
Any suggestion,
thanks,
Bestin

Re: D2D4312-4324 ADD TARGET FAILS WITH TIMEOUT
Hi Bestin Mathew,
For most users replication band width should be somewhere between a 2 Mb/sec and 50 Mb/sec link
for the amounts of typically data transferred using HP D2D replication. Size the link too small and you cannot offsite all your data in a reasonable time. That is the reason for the time out.
You have mentioned other applications are working fine with this link, that's possible as a lot of applications doesn't need more then 1MB bandwidth.
the above mentioned is recommended for D2D and tested. the same is clarified in Page 79 under the head "link Sizing" in the solution guide available at http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01729131/c01729131.pdf

Re: D2D4312-4324 ADD TARGET FAILS WITH TIMEOUT
Hi,
Thanks for the info. Its same now HP support also saying , but interesting thing is that poor D2D is saying anything about the link speed while its trying to establish the partnership. Also not giving any option to check the spped before trying to establish the partnership.
Thanks,
Bestin
