Dat 72 coming back with "Hardware failure"

Hi,

Had a HP Dat 72 usb external drive, running BakcupExec10. Upgraded to BE11 and added a new Sony USB AIT drive (not enough space on the DAT). Now BE reports a hardware failure whilst using either drive (only one plugged in at a time).

Have uninstalled BE and run NTbackup using the HP drive and it's still comming back with hardware failure.

Whats going on??? !

John... you can try to run some test and check if your DAT has some failures.
use Library Tape and tools diagnostic tool, you can find it at www.hp.com/support/tapetools then there is a small link (HP LTT) from there you will select your OS and then download the diagnostic software.
Run it (hardware scan and nt miniport) then check for firmware updates, if any then perform the update.
then go to test and recommend you to use connectivity, device analysis and then assessment test.

then you can read the results and move from there.

Results of test are below. Apart from warning that the tape hasnt been cleaned enough (I've just done two cleans) it doesnt show up anything that I can see.

The firmware is up to date and I've just reinstalled the drivers using the INstall package for the Dat drive.

Any suggestions?
