Data Protector Express ist unable to determine host domain

Dear all,

I have a Problem like this one:

I want to open the Data Protecor Express and then choose localhost and admin without password and then the following message:
"Data Protector Express ist unable to determine host domain"

In the thread i linked there's a solution to uninstall DPE and install DPE SP1.

Do i loose my configuration when i try this?
I had this problem six month ago and then i lost my backup configuration when i installed the DPE again.
How can i ensure, that i dont lose my backup specifications and my tape library?
Is there another solution to this problem?

I had same problem.
In my case due to corrupted settings file.
Reinstall fixed my problem and maintained my config+settings, etc.
I did not do the uninstall, but installed new over old. There was an error msg just saying install failed, no further data.
Everything is working perfectly though and so far no more corruption.

I solved the Problem.

The dpconfig.ini was corrupted. I had the same problem in October last year and there i made a backupt of the dpconfig.ini. In October i reinstalled the Backupsoftware. Now i only copied the save from October back to dpconfig.ini.

Yup, that does it. The SP1 supposedly fixes the bug that causes the corruption.

Dear All,

My Data Protector Express is having the same issue now. On MAR 11 it was ok. On MAR 12 when i try to login choosing localhost and admin without password and then the following message:
"Data Protector Express ist unable to determine host domain". IF the dpconfig.ini file is corrupted (for me the timestamp of the file is MAR12) then any hind hwo to make the file correct..My dpconfig.ini file looks like this

Hi Daniel:

If I understand your problem you want to change the login for localhost / admin to no password or " " blank.

Here is how you change the password for DPX software.

1) Open DPX gui.

2) From the left side icon bar, select Administration tab.

3) Select Security icon.

4) Right click on the Admin icon in the Right Window pane. Select Change Password menu item. Enter old password. Enter in new password " ". Repeat new password " ".
