Data Protector Express space issue

I have a HP DAT 72 USB device and am using DP Express softare. I am trying to backup files of 60GB on a 72GB tape, but it always spits out the tape at around 33GB and asked for new media. I have the software compression set to "software" and the hardware compression set to "compressed". - Why won't the 60GB job fit on one tape?
- Why if I insert a new tape does it tell me it's not the right media?

Re: Data Protector Express space issue

You should probably look to the tape libraries and drives forum for assistance with DPX since it has nothing to do with OmniBack II / Data Protector.

Hi,

1. First of all DAT 72 drive capacity is 36GB native and 72 GB compressed. Compressing the data into the tape depends on lot of factors like kind of data, file size...

2. You need to format a new tape first before using it for the backup.Otherwise it will not recognise the tape.
