DataProtector 6 + MSL 2024 [90:59] Cannot open exchange control device

Hello all,

I`ve some problems with device configuration with Data Protector 6.0 and HP MSL 2024.

Server:
HP DL 380 G5 , PSP 8.0, latest bios, firmware + drivers
Operating System: W2K3 Std SP2, all crit. patches.

Backup-Device:
HP StorageWorks MSL 2024 G3 Series with 1 Ultrium 4-SCSI Drive.
latest firmware for both devices.

SCSI-Controller:
HP SC11Xe (LSI)

I`ve disabled the MediumChange device and the tape drive in Devicemanager. RSM is stopped and disabled.

When I run Device Autoconfiguration Wizard in DP 6.0 I get 2 devices:
1. HP:MSL G3 Series with Robotics Path, but NO DRIVE
2. HP:Ultrium 4-SCSI Drive

When I try to scan the library I get a "critical error [90:59] Cannot open exchanger control device (Device type mismatch)"

Same error when I manual configure the devices.

Hardware is fine, tests with TapeTools and ntbackup are all successful.

DataProtector 6.0 with latest patches installed inkl. latest scsitab - file.

Any solutions?

Hi,

Try to enable the MediumChange device and the tape drive in Device manager.

When I enable Changer + Drive devbra.exe -dev give me a "claimed"...same error..

InfoMessage: after a firmwareupdate to 4.0 for the MSL Library and B45W for the LTO-4 drive everything is working properly.
