DPE 3.5 error 1037

Hi,

I am working on a server running DPE 3.5 on a Windows 2003 server and using a DAT72 USB tape drive. backups were fine until the last three months. Now every daily backup except "Fridays" (PS2:Media4) fail with an error 1037 "object is not active". PS2:Media2,3 and 5 all seem to fail backups. Any ideas why Friday's backup might always seem to work. Also have two new tapes and when I try to format it fails "counts selected 2, completed 1, failed 1". Additionally in the log for the format it sais "error 4038 device not ready" Sorry I'm new to the tape backup world and any assistance would be appreciated.
