DPE 3.5 sp2 with hotfix error code 3090 backup up SQL

I get this error 3090 "VDI Inintialization Failed" when trying to back up an sql server. I'm sure it did work ok initially but now it just will not work. Tried reinstalling the agent but no joy.

The keys under CLSID do not exist so this cannot be changed, any ideas
