DPE 4.0 Single Server Edition DAT72 USB

Good morning,
My 40Gb tapes are not writable by data Protector Express 4.0 on a DW027A-6005 (hp storageWorks DAT 72 USB, under Windows 2008 server (error 1400). Theese tapes were writable by MS NTBACKUP. Any idea why? Thank's a lot.

Re: DPE 4.0 Single Server Edition DAT72 USB

Once written by one backup application, the next application will see a 'foreign' format and will not write to the tapes. The answer is to perform a format in the new application to prepare them to be written to (in this case, by Data Protector Express). If you right-click a tape, you should see the format option.

Data Protector Express has lots of built-in tape rotation schemes -- I think you'll like working with them. They can really simplify tape management, while ensuring that you have archival copies of your data according to your needs.

Thank's for this quick response.
I haved tried yet to FORMAT the tape. It changes nothing. I'll try to ERASE it before writing. Response in the next number...

We need to ERASE and not FORMAT the tape to insure correct functions.
Bests regards.
