Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media

I have been coming across this error on two seperate sites.
Backups are not in a rotation and it happends with all media (even new tapes)

Im not sure what else i can do, i have tried to look up some more info but there is not much relating to this error besides checking rotation.

i have tried reinstalling Data Protector no luck, tried creating a new backup job no luck, tried another tape drive (same specs) no luck

Though if i try it on another machine it works alright.

If anyone could please let me know their thoughts on this issue it would be helpful!

Hi Timothy,

Are you able at least run any erase job or format job from DPE?

Can you tell me what's the tape drive you have?
OS?

Re: Error 1401: Alert - Please insert compatible media

so, is this a "new" problem with an old installation, or is it a new installation that hasn't functioned properly yet?

What version of DP?

It acts like there is no currently available media (protection expired or none). This would be either the default pool associated with the device, with the media pool as specified in the backup specification, or in the "free pool" if so configured.

If the backup device is a tape library, then it may be that DP that the tapes are actually in the library, but DP doesn't know they are there, i.e. the library wasn't scanned after loading the tapes. In that case, scan the library

Sorry for the delayed reply, have had a few family dramas.

I have tried to create a job to add tape to library with no luck (i think this is what you do)

still coming up with error 1401

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Timothy Make sure that over " Devices to be used" you have tape drive selected ONLY. If so then try to erase and repoint Media to be used.
