Error 3042 in Backup Job with DPX and SuzeLinux SLES9
When I want to make full backup of my server (Proliant ML310 G3 with SLES9) on DDS72 with Data Protector Express (last version: 16 May 06) I experience some problem with unknown error message.
The Backup Job make the list of files on the server and when I hope it begin to write on DDS a error message rise
Error 3042: This is not a directory
and process stop without any other information.
Should someone help me ?
Thanks
(sorry for my poor english... I'm French)

Re: Error 3042 in Backup Job with DPX and SuzeLinux SLES9
Currently DPX 3.5 and 4.0 does not support the backup of Novell OES versions of Linux.

Re: Error 3042 in Backup Job with DPX and SuzeLinux SLES9
=====================================
We are doing it ourselves, with v 4.01.
Only draw-back is that metadata is not backedup. I backup the metadata before the data backup by dataprotector with a pre-backup script scheduled by cron :
Code:
#!/bin/sh
metamig save VOL1 > /media/nss/VOL1/backup/metadata_vol1.xml
metamig save APPS > /media/nss/APPS/backup/metadata_apps.xml
The same can be done with the NDS/eDir data
Code:
#!/bin/sh
dsbk backup -f /media/nss/VOL1/backup/edir.bck -l /media/nss/VOL1/backup/edirbackup.log -w
Both commands (metamig and dsbk) can also be used to restore the content of the backups.
Also if the backups keep failing when backing up the whole server by selecting /, try deslecting /opt/novell/nss/mnt. Worked for me.
