error 4078 tapealert warning media life
I have replaced all the tapes in a DAT72 as the unit was reporting error 4078 tapealert warning media life. The unit is still reporting this event.
Is there a means to set the device to recognize that these tapes are new?
Thanks,
Steve

Re: error 4078 tapealert warning media life
Hi Steve:
Besides replacing your old DAT72 tape cartridges, have you tried to test the DAT72 tape drive using Library and Tape Tool? This software is available on HP's public website.
There is a test called DAT Assessment test that will test the tape drive operational performance. If the tape drive can no longer pass the DAT Assessment test, then you may need to get service on your tape drive.
