Errors, any solution on MSL6000?

The Ultrium tape unit backs up some of the servers, and some it doesn't. The tapes are good, everything is in control, even HP is unable to give me a good answer, does anyone know what is happening here?
Any insight into this is helpful.

What backup software is generating those messages?

From Windows you can run HP Library and Tape Tools to perform a diagnostic on the drives.
Select one drive, load a tape on it and run Read/Write test and Drive Assessment Test.

We are using Data Protector...if this helps..if you need more info, I can post it here if it will help this issue.

Re: Errors, any solution on MSL6000?

Thos means all backup devices are busy. Check if there are at least one tape drive free when this backup runs.

If no free derives available - backup session will wait some time (defined in configuration file) and abort with error "Timeout waiting for the devices to get free"

The other reason is - stale device locks. To check it run this:

# omnidbutil -show_locked_devs

To free locked devices/tapes:

# omnidbutil -free_locked_devs [ devname | mediumId | cartName phyLocation ]

But you must do this only if you are sure that no backups run!
