ESL 322e: Firmware-update of IM doesn't work

Hi,

I try to update the firmware of the IM from I231 to I232 but it seems that there isn't enough space on

the FTP server of the IM.  The ls command shows no files on the FTP server. When I logon to the IM CLI

an try the command e.g.  "download remove interface" I get the answer:

Remove the firmware file in <dirname>
syntax: remove <dirname>

where <dirname> is in:

How can I get more space free ?

Regards Thorsten

Re: ESL 322e: Firmware-update of IM doesn't work

What happens if you do from CLI

> show firmware available

-->> upload the LTT_INTRFC-MGR01_I232.frm file via FTP to the IM

(while connected via FTP, use dir or ls to check no other files are there)

and do again

> show firmware available

Should look like this now:

/show/firmware>avail

Firmware files available
------------------------------------
LTT_INTRFC-MGR01_I232.frm

If this is shown, do from CLI:

> download mgmt

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: ESL 322e: Firmware-update of IM doesn't work

I can't upload the LTT_INTRFC-MGR01_I232.frm file via FTP to the IM.

I get an error message, that there is not enough space to store the file

but ls shows no other files there, so how can I free more space ?

Re: ESL 322e: Firmware-update of IM doesn't work

Let's compare the filesize:

"dir" is showing

28.341.030                           LTT_INTRFC-MGR01_I232.frm

c:\>fciv -add ltt_intrfc-mgr01_i232.frm -md5
//
// File Checksum Integrity Verifier version 2.05.
//
870a7f05f462d1beba15663ccc05ad7d ltt_intrfc-mgr01_i232.frm

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ESL 322e: Firmware-update of IM doesn't work

It's no a problem of the filesize. I can't copy any file to the interface manager:

230 Guest login ok, access restrictions apply.
ftp> ls
200 PORT command successful.
550 No files found.
ftp> lcd D:\firmware
Local directory now D:\Firmware.
ftp> bin
200 Type set to I.
ftp> put LTT_HP_E1200-160_5963.frm
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for LTT_HP_E1200-160_5963.frm.
> Netout :Software caused connection abort
452 Error writing file: No space left on device.
ftp: 65535 bytes sent in 0,02Seconds 4095,94Kbytes/sec.
ftp>

That firmware file has a size of only 1,6 MB and I can't upload it to the interface manager.

Re: ESL 322e: Firmware-update of IM doesn't work

The flash card is probably bad?

If you connect with the serial cable (speed 9600) you should see several disk related output during boot.

Maybe there are some failure messages?

But you may need a new IM flash card if the one inside has problems.

This card will probably come with newer firmware, so you need to be careful while updating the remaining components (steps are required, e.g. for the robotics)!

Another possible reason could be a large log or dump file on the card.

Consider to ask HP support for help to get root access and clear those files.
