How to reach the maximum of Storage capacity for HP DAT 72(C8010A)

Hi,
Could you show me how to compress the files and folders so that can be stored more than 40GB in the data cartridge HP DAT 72(C8010A).

Thank you,
Tuan

Normally hardware compression is automatically enabled on this drive.
How much data can effectively stored is very dependant on the type of data, e.g. the attainable compression ratio varies widely for different types of files.
HP calculates with ratio 2:1, meaning tape capacity is 36GB, so you can store twice as much.
In practice one hardly ever exceeds 1.8:1 on any large (average) set of files. If you store highly comprssed data like ZIP files, JPEG, MPEG, etc. then no further compression is possible.
Check if your backup software has hardware compression enabled; make sure software comprssion is off. That usually yields the best ratio.

Cheers, André
