HP 1/8 Autoloader "failed to identify all of the library drives"
I have a problem with this device. When I start L&TT, it scans and shows the result:
1. Libraries/Autoloaders: HP 1x8 autoloader (Address 3/0.5.1),
2. Drives: HP Ultrium 3-SCSI (Address 3/0.5.0)
However, I get the error:
The device scan failed to identify all of the library drives.
The Autoloader is connected to an HP HBA, and previously worked perfectly. No hardware or software changes were made to the server. It just suddenly stopped working, and is only 4 months old. Server is running Windows Server 2003
Things I've tried:
1) Upgraded FW on autoloader to 2.70. No help
2) Set autoloader mode to Automatic/Random. No help
3) Installed new HP drivers. No Help
4) Confirmed RSM is disabled as a service, and DP is also not running. No help
Help?

Re: HP 1/8 Autoloader "failed to identify all of the library drives"
It's possible you have a cable problem. I'd first check to make sure that the terminator is correctly placed and installed. I'd then check (and possibly swap out) the SCSI cable.
Which version of L&TT are you running? Why did you decide to run L&TT? What does Windows Device Manager show under tape drives and libraries?

Re: HP 1/8 Autoloader "failed to identify all of the library drives"
I forgot to mention it's a SAS autoloader, and as such I don't really suspect the cable. The cable is secure, and the drive/autoloader can independently be accessed by L&TT, heck I upgraded the firmware on the autoloader..
Version 4.8 L&TT. I decided to run it because Data Protector was showing the autoloader as being offline.
Device Manager shows:
Medium Changers > Hewlett Packard 1x8 G2 autoloader (x86 based)
SCSI and RAID Controllers > LSI Adapter, SAS 3000 series, 8-port with 1068E -StorPort
Tape drives > Hewlett Parkard LTO Ultrium-3 drive
...
