HP 1/8 Ultrium 448 G2 Tape Autoloader "Incomp medium" error

I've recently replaced a tape drive inside one of these backup units because there was a broken part inside.

It worked fine for one cycle of inventory and backups but after that, it is coming up with an error message "incomp medium" on the display. There are no other codes available.

The unit belongs to a client who says that the tapes are the same ones he always uses so I don't think that is an issue.

The firmware is up-to-date (2.50).

Can anyone point me in a direction to look at?

Update the firmware! That firmware isn't up-to-date but rather is almost the very first firmware that shipped for that library. You should be able to get 4.40.

Thanks for the reply. After getting onsite and checking out the drive, it turns out that one of the tapes had gotten stuck in the drive because a sticky note was on one of the tapes that was inserted in the autoloader.

Thanks for the suggestion about the firmware though.

Derek,
I'm having the same problems here. I pulled the tape drive module out but how can I remove the tape without having to take apart the whole module?
Thanks!
