HP G2 Autoloader
Dear Friends,
In our HP G2 Auto loader asking new media during Weekly and Monthly full backup and during this period all 8 tapes are sniping continuously. When we are inserting new tape, it is not detecting tape and we are bound to click on Cancel option.
Would please any body help for resolving this issue.
Thanking you.
Regards,
Anis

Re: HP G2 Autoloader
Having you tried to run the drive assessment test with a blank new tape using HPE LTT.
The drive may need repairing/replacing

Re: HP G2 Autoloader
Download HPE LTT, scan for the tape library, load a blank tape into the drive, open LTT and run drive assessment test.
Its hard to say why full backups fail but short dont fail, but maybe the drive doesnt have a problem writing smaller amounts of data. The full backup tapes may be the problem, if there old, dirty etc.
We really need to know more about why the jobs are failing, does your backup program give any errors. what backup program do you use?

Re: HP G2 Autoloader
No not giving error. Just asking "Mount a new media to continue the backup job".
We are using Arcserve 17.5 SP1 .

Re: HP G2 Autoloader
It sounds like the tape is full and needs another tape to finish the job
