HP MSL8096 HAS EXCLUSIVE AND NONEXLUSIVE MODE?

We have  HP tape library MSL8095. It and two CommVault Media Agents are attached to SAN. We want to configure these two agent servers to use the same tape library. How to achieve that?

I heard IBM tape library's tape driver has two mode: exclusive mode and nonexclusive mode. the later one can be configured on the server and therefore the tape drive could be shared by two media server.

With HP tape library, is there such mode? and how to configure them on Window server.

Thanks!

Creating logical partitions could be a solution for you, see

page 20

...

The MSL4048 and MSL8096 Tape Library can be configured into two to four logical libraries,

depending on the number of tape drives installed.

Hope this helps!

Re: HP MSL8096 HAS EXCLUSIVE AND NONEXLUSIVE MODE?

logical partition seems different from what I am seeking for. I need to have the entired tape library shared by two media server. though I understand it could not be shared in any single moment, but there should be a mechanism as IBM tape could have, similar to nonclusive whereas all drives inside could be seen by both Media Server.

Anybody has any idea?

This is obviously a functionality of the driver, not of the hardware. Since most backup applications use their own drivers, you should ask your application vendor about this.

google found this, could be yours:
