Thank you for the reply.
I am attaching the log from the failed update. It looks like the the update broke the SCSI Bus.

Re: HP Storageworks 1/8 autoloader firmware update failed
After a power cycle if the library is still running the old firmware try to download again and just select the library this time (unselect the check box for the drive if it wants to update). The drive should be up to date and not want to update.
Please post information about what server hardware, OS, and HBA type you are using.

Re: HP Storageworks 1/8 autoloader firmware update failed
I power cylced the library and and tried to unload the tapes. It is still giving me and "Error 90".
The operating system is a Windows 2003 R3, Hardware is an HP DL380. HPA is smart array 6i.

I don't know if a firmware update will help with the problem but you should be able to complete a firmware update successfully.

Re: HP Storageworks 1/8 autoloader firmware update failed
The option to update the firmware is "grayed out" on the LTT. It looks to me like the Library firmware update damaged the Library SCSI connection.
Best reguards,
Larry

Re: HP Storageworks 1/8 autoloader firmware update failed
Have a look:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/storageworks/techdoc/ebs/EBSMatrix-0907.pdf
"Autoloaders, MSL 2024, MSL 4048, and MSL 8096 are not supported with SMART Array Controllers"
"SMART Array Controllers do not support attachment to tape automation products."
I guess this is the reason for your problem - you need another SCSI HBA.
BTW, error 90 is Mechanical Initialization failure - so I think you have multiple reasons for your problem.
This matrix may help you to find a HBA:
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/ISS/13-0003-0002.html#matrixtable
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
