I'm having an issue with my HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448 drive not filling the entire tape. I'm only getting around 130GB worth of data on my tapes before I'm asked for a new tape. I'm using Symantec's BackupExec 12 to handle my backups. I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue. This is extremely annoying and expensive to have to change the tapes constantly or add new ones.
I've checked the compression settings and they are only set to 'hardware'. When I look at the tape info it shows only about 130GB of data is on the tape but the used capacity is 195GB of 195GB. I'm pulling my hair out!
When I run L&TT it shows my drive under the "Other Devices" with a red 'X'. The comments reads as "L&TT could not identify the correct NT miniport driver to use to access this device".

Its doing compression run LTO drive assesment test just to make sure the drive is fit for purpose if it passes then problem is fron Symantec check this link out.
