Issue taking backups with one drive

Hi,

We are using HP MSL G3 series 4048 Library with two drives and DP 6.0.Till recently we are able to take backups with both the drives but from the past one week we are having an issue while taking backups through one of the drives. I have configured the drive in different server but still its the same. Please find the attached details of the backup session.I have highlighted the errors in Red.

Please advise on the changes to be made.

Thanks,
Venkat.

Re: Issue taking backups with one drive

Consider to use LTT, do an assessment test and pull a support ticket.

http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools

Hope this helps!

Re: Issue taking backups with one drive

after a review of your support ticket:
Considere doing two actions:
-1 run cleaning cycle with a non expired cleaning cartridge
-2 fix polling comming probably from the Windows hosts

Re: Issue taking backups with one drive

Hi,

Thanks for the solution. I have a small doubt,
if we Enable SCSI Reserve Release option in the global config file and also select the option in settings/Advanced on the drives solves the issue?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Venkat.

Re: Issue taking backups with one drive

Hi ,

no, this option don't solve the problem,

run this and post here , on this server: blrmail02.omegahms.com

windows:
C:\Program Files\OmniBack\bin>devbra -dev
unix: opt/omni/sbin/>./devbra -dev

this output will tell me if this server see the tape drive.

Looks like HW issue but could be DP the problem.

Also , do you have patches on cell manager and client?

Regards.

Re: Issue taking backups with one drive

Hi,
Look

on the session this tape fail:
Tape0:0:0:0C

and the devbra output don't show this tape just show this tape:
Tape2:0:0:0C
Tape1:0:1:0

Tha means that you have bad your configuation.

Check this documente , maybe give you idea hot to fix the problem, becuase looks like the tape is fine.
