LTO-4 comes up as FAST-20 40 MB / sec

LTO-4 comes up as FAST-20 40 MB / sec

I have an ultrium 1840 SCSI tape drive attached to an adaptec controller (29320) in an open SUSE 11.3 box. dmesg reports that the tape drive is using AIC79XX and is FAST-20 WIDE, 40 MB / sec. Unsurprisingly, I only get 40 MB / sec performance out of the tape drive. Any suggestions on how to get the system to recognize the drive as FAST-320 or whatever?
