LTO 4 drive not detecting in the HPUX server
I am facing a strange problem. I had a new MSL 2024 library (LTO4 drive) connecting to my HPUX server. I am using a direct FC connection and i cannot see the tape in the ioscan. The HBA is claimed and no tape device is detected. Then i saw in the web console on the MSL, it is show the "Port status: no link", but the port speed is showing 2 GB and port type is showing loop.
I changed port B, it is the same. I had upgraded the firmware of the drive to the latest H58W.
Can anyone help?

Re: LTO 4 drive not detecting in the HPUX server
Check if you have a bad port, HBA or cable.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: LTO 4 drive not detecting in the HPUX server
Today I was upgrading FW in the LTO4 drives (H58W), and after the FW process, the systems weren't able to see the library.
I notice that all the LTO-4 FC ports were configured to 1GBs/loop mode. Forcing to 4 Gbs in the MSL didn't change nothing. The SAN switch ports connecting to the MSL were also forced to Fabric 4 Gbps.
To resolve this problem, I had to configure both MSL and SAN switches ports to auto (topology and speed). After that, the speed was 4gbps/Fabric (according to san switchs).
Even forcing the SAN switches ports to 4Gbps/Fabric, the MSL will continue to work without problems.
After this I reboot the library, and the link continue in 4 Gbps/ Fabric mode.
The last test will be forcing the MSL ports to 4/Fabric mode to see what happens. Results after the lunch (I├В┬┤m hungry ;) )
Hope it├в s help. ├п
