Mailslot function? LTO-3 Ultrium 920 SAS

I seem to fail to find any info as to the function of the 'feature' of a Mailslot.

Any info/direction would be appreciated.

I where to enable mail slot then there will be a way to take out the mail slot ONLY instead of the whole magazine, that way the library or autoloader will scan only the mail slot and not the whole magazine therefore it will become ready sooner.
