MSL2024 Ultrium 960FC Tape Library not see after system reboot

I have recently installed the MSL2024. this tape unit connects to the SAN Switch using Fibre. I just rebooted my system for the first time since the install and I can not see the tape drives. I ended up doing IO find_wwid and then IO auto in Sysman inoder for the node to see the drives.

My system is an ES40 OpenVMS7.3-2. Why did this happen?

Hi!

I dont know much about VMS, but is the library and the VMS-box both visible on the switch?

Have you rebooting the SAN's NSR?

Does the MSL2024 have a NSR?
No.

Hope this helps!

The NSR is not on the library....it is part of the SAN enabling all the other SAN-zoned computers to see the library and tape drives.

MSL2024's are almost never used with an NSR. There is one configuration where an NSR can be used but I wouldn't recommend it. This case appears to be a fibre channel library which would be connected directly to the SAN.

I guess there is no NSR involved at all.

@Glenn - do you already know this:

The response above mentions a WEB page. I'm not able to connect. It states that the page in nonexistence.

The link didn't post right. Try this one. It's just the 2024 Fibre Channel Addendum which you probably received with the library.

Re: MSL2024 Ultrium 960FC Tape Library not see after system reboot

I've just print the document, and will review. In the meantime, when we first went to fibre channel disks, we had to run the WWIDMGR setup in order to see the system disk. Do you know if the same thing needs to be done for these type of tape drives to be seen?
