Hello,

I get the following message from the library:

Attention: No tape for autoclean
Event Code: 0x86 - no cleaning tape

I don`t know how to implement an cleaning tape to the library. Is there a documentation how to configure a cleaning tape?

Insert a cleaning tape with barcode label and enable automatic cleaning.

Hello,

The message is coming because you try to enable Autoclean. Best Practices is to enable cleaning thru the backup application, because otherwise automatic cleaning might disturb backup. If your backup application supports cleaning I would enable it there.

Hello and thanks for the answers.
My backup software (IBM TSM) reccommends to use the hardware cleaning.

How can I enable autocleaning in the library?
I don`t know how to enable it!

1. From the Home screen, press Previous or Next until the screen displays Conï¬ guration.Press Enter to
select.

2. Press Previous or Next until the screen displays Conï¬ gure Auto Cleaning.Press Enter to select.
3. Press Previous or Next until the screen displays Auto Cleaning Disabled or Auto Cleaning Enabled.
To change the auto cleaning conï¬ guration, press Enter.
4. Press Previous or Next until the screen displays the conï¬ guration you want. Press Enter.

sorry, I know the point in the menue to configure it. It is configured!
My problem was how to check it in to the library. Know I have opened ohne magazine and I have put it in one free slot. After that it was selectable for manual clean.
And now the autoclean works automatically? When does the autoclean occurs and is there a log to control it?

manual:

"When auto clean is enabled, the device automatically loads a cleaning cartridge when a tape drive needs to be cleaned"

IIRC this will appear in the library logs.

You should be aware that HP LTO tape drives have a built in cleaning brush and are pretty gentle on the media so you may not see a clean event for a long time.
