MSL5000 - drive initializing
We bought this used HP StorageWorks MSL5000 with a single SDLT320 drive, and hooked it up to our ProLiant DL380 server using the same SCSI adapter & cable that had been working with the old library before its tape drive died. We have not been able to get a backup job or inventory job to run. Windows Server 2003's Dev Mgr sees the library and the drive, but Backup Exec jobs all fail. I fiddled with the library today, and found that it shows Drive 0 status as "Initializing". When I selected Inventory on the Diagnostics menu, the drive moved back & forth and I observed a red laser light, presumably reading the tapes' bar codes. But the drive status remained "Initializing".
Any suggestions?
Bob
