MSL6000 AD598A LTO2

Hello

I am looking for some assistance please with SCSI configuration / compatibility with an MSL6000 and 2 LTO2's.
I have library P/N AD598A with 2 LTO2's installed, the P/N of the drives installed is 331225-001. HP part surfer states these drives are compatible with this library P/N, but I am dubious as I cannot understand how to recognise the drives on the SCSI bus.
The MSL6000 as far as I am aware, had to use drives with a VHDCI connector on the rear sled of the drive and the 331225-001 doesn't.
The MSL 6000 manual does not mention any other configuration other than direct attach to the rear of the Tape drive sled.
I can physically install the drives to the loader, but a SCSI scan will only show the library it's self.

Any help would be appreciated.

Darren.

Re: MSL6000 AD598A LTO2

Hello

many thanks for the links and the suggestion of enabling LUN support. Unfortunately I have looked through these links already and can't see where the LTO2 configuration is listed, only the cabling method or mention of the configuration of SCSI connection directly to the back of each drive. LUN support was already configured and I have tried this with 2 separate systems.
I am directly attaching with SCSI via an Adaptec 39160.

Re: MSL6000 AD598A LTO2

Hello

Yes this is exactly the issue I have, and this is as I suspected, that the 331225-001 is not compatible with the AD598A (MSL6000). The problem is that HP part surfer is giving misleading information, in that if you search for AD598A, it advises 331225-001 as a supported drive!

Can you confirm 100% that there is not a way in which this library can be configured to use this style of LTO2?

many thanks

Re: MSL6000 AD598A LTO2

unfortunately not, this is the configuation I would expect to go with the 331225-001, my library does not have the SCSI connectors on the rear of the drive or underneath the drive shoe.

The AD598A library in my opinion does not have these connectors, therfore surely the 331225-001 is not compatible? In which case HP part surfer is providing wrong information isn't it?

Please see the attached image of my library.

Re: MSL6000 AD598A LTO2

Hello Darren,

Unfortunately you are right and PartSurfer is providing you with misleading information, the HotPlug version of the drives can not be used with your library AD598A.

I already requested the PartSurfer folks to remove this drive from the list.
