MSL6030 Performance

How many Gb/h could backup an MSL6030 connected trough a SAN (2Gb)? Sometimes I have problems during intensive backups but when all is ok i can bck up to 60gb/h, how can improve it?

Re: MSL6030 Performance

That's only 16 MB/s, you should get more from a Ultrium 2/3/4 drive.

For example, with a Ultrium 460: 216 GB/hour (assuming 2:1 compression)

If you have a Windows server that can access the MSL, you can use Library and Tape Tools to perform a device performace test.
The backup speed does not only depend on the drive, it can also be slow because the server cannot read data from the disks or the network any faster.

ok, so I have to understand where is the bottleneck. But wich are most common issues?

Re: MSL6030 Performance

Use L&TT (http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools) to run drive and system performance tests. This separates the performance of the MSL from the performance of the backup server.
Then you can start investigating on one direction or the other.
