We have a MSL6030 tape Library SAN connects to a HP-UX rp5470 box (SAN, running HP-UX 11i v1). Last week, its FC card has some problem, HP support replaced it. Our storage admin re-configure this "new" device using the new WWPN number and done the zoning. He re-presented this MSL6030 device to that HP-UX rp5470 again, but I still could not see it. And he presented this device to another SAN connecting HP-UX rp4440 box see if it worked or not, but that one didn't work as well, could not see the MSL6030. The commands that i ran on HP-UX servers are:
# insf -e
# ioscan -fnC tape
# ioscan -fnC autoch
The storeage admin said, He has re-configured MSL6030 properly.
Can someone let me know, for this kind of issue which side should check, HP-UX server side or SAN side? If HP-UX side, how to re-scan and find this MSL6030?
Any answers will be very appreciate!

SolutionIf not, look into syslog if it is suggesting the use of fcmsutil with replace_dsk!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSL6030 replaced FC card, HP-UX server could not see it
Have you power cycled the library after the zoning was done ?
If not then the mapping on the NSR won't have been able to see any hosts, hence why you can't see the drives.
If you did power cycle the library, then you need to check that the mapping on the NSR is correct...
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: MSL6030 replaced FC card, HP-UX server could not see it
Thanks a lot for your fast reply and good answers.
Hi Torsten
I have rebooted one of the HP-UX server, it didn't work. ioscan -fnC tape nothing appear.
Do we need restore the NFS config from backup? I don't know that. I didn't do any backup before HP Support implemented the FC card physical replacement. How to restore it?
Hi Rob
I have power off and power on the Tape Library MSL6030 twice. I will give it a try again see if it works.
How to make sure the mapping on the NSR is correct or not. It should be done by me (HP-UX side) or SAN router/switch side? And how to check the mapping on the NSR?
Thanks a lot!

Re: MSL6030 replaced FC card, HP-UX server could not see it
From syslog.log I checked below info:
Sep 29 11:32:17 srs075 vmunix: 0/12/0/0: Unable to access previously accessed device at nport ID 0x511400.
Sep 29 11:40:18 srs075 vmunix: 0/12/0/0: 'World-wide name' (unique identifier) for device at nport ID 0x511400 has
Sep 29 11:40:18 srs075 vmunix: changed. If the device has been replaced intentionally, please use the
Sep 29 11:40:18 srs075 vmunix: fcmsutil(1M) command's replace_dsk option to allow the new device to be used.
Sep 29 11:40:18 srs075 vmunix: 0/12/0/0: Fibre Channel Driver detected a parse error in the FLOGI/PLOGI response
Sep 29 11:40:18 srs075 vmunix: returned by nport ID 0x511400. FLOGI/PLOGI Fail Code = 0x6.
And I ran command got below error
root@srs075:/var/adm/syslog> fcmsutil -replace_dsk
Error: FCP driver not loaded.
How to load the FCP driver?
Thanks

Re: MSL6030 replaced FC card, HP-UX server could not see it
Just now, before I checked syslog.log,
I ran commands ioscan -fnC tape and ioscan -fnC autoch. It didn't work, so I ran command # rmsf -kH 0/.../ to remove that device from system. But I ran ioscan -fnC tape then there is no info in syslog.

Re: MSL6030 replaced FC card, HP-UX server could not see it
# fcmsutil /dev/td0 replace_dsk 0x511400
on all FC HBA devices and do an ioscan again.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSL6030 replaced FC card, HP-UX server could not see it
in order to see the library in a hpux servers after replacing the FC card , you need to take care of the following things.
1: FC card is properly installed and visible to the kernel.
2: The card should be able to do FClogi to the switch.
run "switchshow"(if brocade)in the switch and check if wwn of the card is logged in against the port number.
3.check if HBA card and the Library(NSR) are in the same zone.
4. MOST IMPORTANT
check NSR mapping settings as the new FC HBA card will have a new wwwn so it needs to be updated in the mapping table.add the wwwn to the host name and map all the devices discovered to the same host.
