msl6030 world wide name

How do I determine the WWN of the MSL6030
It is installed on HP-UX but we do not backup via FC.
I want to correct that.

Re: msl6030 world wide name

The MSL itself has no fiber connections, hence no WWN.

Logon to the NSR (telnet or browser) to see the WWN of the NSR.

Hope this helps!

Re: msl6030 world wide name

Weertman,

1. You can find out WWN number from NSR.

You said it is installed on HP-UX.
a) does your HP-UX machine has HBA Card ?
b) does your Setup has SAN Switch ?
if above both the answer is yes then u can configure your backup via FC!

Re: msl6030 world wide name

a) My HP-UX machine has a HBA Card and a san Switch
I do not know however how to connect to the NSR.
It that the same ip as I use for the Remote Management Interface? With the old lto-1 it is the case.
for the lto-3 however I can not telnet that address.
Can it be disabled?
Can I find the WWN another way?

Re: msl6030 world wide name

The NSR is an independent device installed in the library. It needs to be connected to LAN via an extra lan cable. The default IP setting is use DHCP - network name is Router.

You can also use the serial cable delivered with the NSR and connect a serial console (pc) to access and configure it.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: msl6030 world wide name

The link works.
Thanks.
I installed the software but can not find however the wwn.

I used "fcmsutil /dev/td0 get remote all"
This command seems to find all connected fc devices except the switches.

Re: msl6030 world wide name

I thought I could speed up the backup by using the device property "direct Backup".
However is seems to be only for san backup and I do not use that. Can not make snapshots.
The backups do not execeed 12MB/sec.
The drive has a max of 80MB/sec.
Even the copy to tape is 12MB/sec max and this pc has a fc card.
Can this be a wrong configuration in the device properties?
