No compression on Compaq 20/40 DDS DAT drive - EO2007
I have a Compaq 20/40 GB DDS Dat tape drive that I am using with Backup Exec 2010. I can't seem to get any compression to work with it. I have BE set to use hardware compression if available and then use software compression. However, it does not go over 1:1 compression. I realize that the type of files affect this, but this 1:1 ratio is on the ENTIRE backup. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Re: No compression on Compaq 20/40 DDS DAT drive - EO2007
Is there any chance you're performing encryption as part of the backup job? Encrypted data will not compress.
Can yuo download HP's free Library and Tape Tools and create a test data set that is compressible, and then back itup and see what you get? http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html
